LOCATION: Changzhou and Shanghai, China
Job Description
This position is responsible for the strategic planning function for Trina Solar's rapid expansion and will report directly to the Vice President of Business Development. The role will be based in Changzhou and Shanghai, China with occasional travel between the two cities. This function will cover the following areas:
Scope of Responsibilities
1) Internal Expansion Planning
Assist CEO, management team and expansion department in specific initiatives as related to the organic growth of the business in China as well as overseas
Work with internal departments to determine necessary investment levels needed for organic expansion plans
Determine long-term business model and adjust internal planning based on deals with leading partners
Coordinate with external partners who might consider locating facilities on Trina Solar expansion areas
Complete internal cost analysis of various aspects of the value chain
2) Strategic Planning
Incorporate market analysis to clarify company business model and maximize return to shareholders
Establish an annual corporate strategic planning process to align yearly company strategy with long range plan and objectives
Assist management team in reviewing key industry trends and impact on departmental goals
Assist in ad-hoc projects as required by the office of the CEO
3) Industry Analysis
Gather and analyze insightful information on solar PV supply and demand trends throughout the value chain
Monitor government policy initiatives via secondary research and predict the potential impact on supply and demand
Research disruptive technologies such as thin film and BIPV and analyze the potential impact on the crystalline solar PV segment
Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual industry reports for Trina management
Job Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess the following skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Extensive experience in business planning and strategic planning Ability to manage and drive projects to completion Structured writing skills and presentation skills Extremely diligent work ethic, high level of motivation and results-orientation Strong cross-cultural teamwork and communication skills Mastery of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint Excellent oral and written Mandarin and English communication skills Business fluency in German and/or Japanese a plus The ideal candidate would have the following education and work experience: Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts (MBA a plus) 10-15 years of multinational company experience with at least 5 years in a consulting firm or a strategic planning function, with leadership of a company's long-range planning process International deal experience or other related work in a multi-cultural environment Project and team management experience
